The Pennine Way

POSTSCRIPT

Twenty days and 276 miles of mostly good weather, fine scenery, several bogs and a few raindrops. It felt good to have done it and I enjoyed meeting James along the way and also walking with Les and Carol and Andrew for a few days.

This time I didn't count up the cost but I expect it must have been £60+ per day overall, plus petrol money for Trisha and Amber to drop me off and pick me up, and their accommodation.

Anything I’d do differently?

No, there were no major problems. The bag was a bit heavy but I can't think of how I could have trimmed it down much. In the end I got to Kirk Yetholm in one piece and without any huge blisters so I don't suppose you can ask for much more - except maybe a mobile tea shop at the top of Cross Fell.

And if you're planning on doing the Way yourself - good luck.

Thanks

Once again to my wonderful wife, Trisha, for her love and forbearance of my absences on these trips and for ferrying me about to the start and end points.

What next?

I must think of something.
